Capezio Dancewear

Salvatore Capezio was born in Italy in 1871. After emigrating to the United States, he became a cobbler at the age of 17. His father was an architectural engineer, however, Salvatore preferred the architecture and fine detail needed to repair shoes. He opened his own shop across the street from the Metropolitan Opera House and began taking care of the shoes for repairing shoes of those who worked at the theater. He had such a great personality in addition to his wonderful work, that he became favored among the performers to fix their shoes. It wasn't long before he began making shoes as well.

When he began making pointe shoes for the ballet dancers, he found that he loved finding the balance between the engineering and construction of the challenging shoes. Capezio married a dancer and continued to befriend more and more dancers from the area. Word spread about his shoes and how great they were. The craftsmanship as well as the technology amazed everyone. Anna Pavlova, a famous dancer, bought herself and her entire company Capezio pointe shoes in 1910. When she began extolling the virtues of his shoes in public, Capezio's place in the dancewear world was solidified.

To this day, Capezio dancewear and footwear still have a great reputation for both quality and craftsmanship. They have patented new features that have become very popular. These include the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker® and the Tapsneaker. And, like Capezio himself did in 1910, the company of today is creating partnerships with hot Broadway and off-Broadway shows and even great, young and upcoming dancers.

All of this should tell you that Capezio is the way you want to go for your dance shoes and other dancewear. Sold in some of the finest dancewear shops as well as online, Capezio is a houshold name for dancers of today. Streamlined and comfortable, Capezio dancewear is perfect for practices as well as performances. They now carry nearly every shape and fashion imaginable in dancewear as well as great prices for such good quality.

Check to make sure that your dancewear fits well before buying it. Most Capezio retailers have return policies that will make the ordering and returning of merchandise easier for those who have to order online and return items that don't fit. Some dancers, knowing this, go ahead and order the size they think they are as well as the size they might be when getting ready for a performance. This gives them the option of making sure what they have really does fit so they can send the other one back. This also helps make sure that nobody misses a performance because their costume has not yet come in.
